Clipboard
A portion of your computer's memory where text, pictures, and other bits of data can be temporarily stored.
To place information in the clipboard, you normally select it within a program's window, then click the program's "Copy", "Cut", "Copy to Clipboard", or "Cut to Clipboard' button. There may also be a "Copy" or "Cut" menu choice, often in the program's "Edit" menu.
Note: Information that is copied to the clipboard also remains intact within the program where the information was originally stored. But if you "Cut" information to the clipboard, it is normally removed from the program where it was originally stored.
To retrieve information from the clipboard, you can normally click the program's "Paste" or "Paste from Clipboard" button. There may also be a "Paste" menu choice, often in the program's "Edit" menu.
